Greetings and Salutations to All! Finally! I have made it to the Colorado Faire... and I love it!
It really IS all up hill... the Unicorn said it was a magic spell... but that doesn't stop me - nor all the other wonderful folk that were there! I ran into Willow and Captain... and was so glad to see acts like Iris and Rose and those wonderful Nunnys!! I have pics posted of our forays there... it was so lovely that I wore the big Jeweled Dress and didn't even break a sweat! It was a big hit, too... sometimes I couldn't go 10 feet without being photographed! But.. they loved my Wenchly Lark too... and Ioved the faire! Lots of good music... and small intimate stages in between the larger performance areas. Cast in Bronze is lawn seating... but very well attended!
Another thing I really liked was all the local artisans. There were many shops with things that were pretty unique. I love shopping and discovering new wonders!
I have made contact with the faire and who knows... next year, maybe I will be singing there! *crossing fingers* I have a new CD that is almost finished... and when it is, I hope to be traveling to promote it! Any ideas? *grins* hugs to all...
Well, here I sit in the lovely high plains of Wyoming... Closest faire is Colorado, I think! Life in Arizona did not work out as I hoped, and when my daughter, Dawn, needed my help with the new baby, I took the opportunity.
I will be sorry not to see the desert Faire, but it isn't an option when I don't have my own car. Little Windsong, the Subaru, did not survive the harsh treatment on the way from Texas to Arizona, so I am praying for a new carriage in the future.
The music has been flowing here, though. My daughter and granddaughter both sing, and we are working with Dawn's wonderful husband, Joe, to put together a family group. I've written two new songs... one for kids and one love song. I am also sending off a CD of my stuff to Jimmy Crowley, the Irish song collector. I met him at the festival in Lake Charles, and he asked me to share my music with him!
So, considering where I am now, what are my best recommendations for Faire now? Any ideas?
Greetings to Everyone! It's off to the Celtic Nations Heritage Festival for me! I will be playing solo there, billed as a Celtic Balladeer - which is a very high title when it comes to that Festival!
There is a huge memorial for Tommy Makem on Oct 12, and I have been invited to be onstage for it, and to sing a verse or two solo! Check out the Festival site, and if you are anywhere close, please come out and enjoy the music and fun!
The Festival is at the Civic Center in Lake Charles, Louisiana. It starts Friday eveing, Oct. 12 and goes till Sunday Evening, Oct. 14. You can see all the folks that will be playing under Music on the website! (Yup... I am there too!) It is one of the best festivals I have been to, and very worthy of attending! I hope to see some of you there... Let me know you are from Renspace!
I have been thinking that perhaps I will start including some poetry on here, as well as bloggy ol' thoughts... Who knows, maybe some ink from my poet's pen may spur a romance or touch a heart or twain...
I hope, if it does touch any, that they let me know... *smiles* My first offering...
A Lover's Voice
Speak, Love, in your voice so low Speak to me of joy unbound Weep to me of sorrow's wretched pain And the wonder it becomes At a single word from You!
Tell me, my love, the stories that lie within your eyes Of quests and of lusts, of trysts and small eternities. Oh, speak my love, my only heart, and sing me Far from this mundane travesty of half-life Into the world that is ours alone!
Woo Hoo! I will be out at Scarby on Sunday... and I fully intend to wear The Dress! I had better start working out now! LOL
Oh... and *pointing to the mischievous gleam in her eyes* I put up a new site... well an old site, really that disappeared with the EV1 servers... The Cowspiracy has Returned!!! Check this out is you would like a really good laugh! http://cowspiracy.freeservers.com/
